outbound trains!

have you ever noticed how lovely the muni voice is at the undergrounds and how awful the bart voice is?

approaching. two car. J. J. followed by. two car. K. K. in. five. minutes. one car. L. in. six. minutes.

there's even a different dinging sound for outbound & inbound trains. its honestly really quite pleasant. and then you cruise down one level and the bart voice is so disgusting.

eightcar trainfor pittsburgbayPOINT in threeminutes. fivecar trainfor richmond in fiveminutes. PLATform two.

its the most awful computer generated voice and why platforms 1 & 2? i mean... have you been down there? there's only one platform. stop trying to fake pump that trains to the east bay depart from platform 2. whatEVER.

i don't know. i guess i find myself thinking about this more often than i should so i though i'd share. because the thing is - bart is so obviously the better of the two public transit systems. so why couldn't they spring for the good voice? why instead do we have the dude who sounds like a throat cancer victim? is that really necessary? and how much do these voice systems cost anyway?

anywho - here are the pics from dinner last night. rad!

I agree. The Muni ones sound like they're out of a 70s modernist scifi movie of the future, where automated voices tell us when the next train is coming and when to take the SOMA.

The BART ones though just get irritating - like a bad 70s hobbyist robot that tries to mix drinks and keeps spilling.
